Overview of the event
Registration will open on Day 1 of the event (Friday 24th Sept) between 2pm and 3pm at mission HQ, location of which has yet to be confirmed. A full briefing on the weekend will then take place after which participants then divide into smaller groups and rotate through the training sessions for the rest of the afternoon. These sessions will give your team vital survival skills, most of which you will call on over the weekend, others you will need if you get lost or something goes  wrong. This is a very interesting part of the challenge and was very well received on last years event.

Training will finish at 1900hrs approx. Dinner will be served and the evening is yours to relax before the challenge begins. Sleeping that night will on the floor at Mission HQ. Saturday morning will start early with a challenge briefing. Teams will then head off on the first day of the challenge. Your mission is ultimately to reach High Camp. Before you get there are a number of challenges you must complete; an Orienteering course, Archery and other fun challenges will keep you entertained along the route, each challenge you complete lets you through to the next stage of the route. It’s a tough day with a lot of distance to cover. Once all challenges are complete you will be given the location of High Camp. When you get here your priority will be to make shelter as quickly as possible using the natural materials around you.

Sunday morning again will start early with a challenge briefing. Your mission today is to get to the finish line. It’s a navigation day as we traverse the beautiful Comeragh Mountains and take in the best views on offer. You will pass through a series of check points en-route to the finish. Navigation skills you learnt on Friday are essential today for success as the route takes into remote valleys, onto summits and along forest trails. The Challenge will end Sunday afternoon and transport will be provided back to Mission HQ where showers will be available.

Training: If you’ve not started yet, don’t worry there’s plenty of time. Start with some easy walks and built them up gradually. When you feel you are getting somewhere with your fitness keep doing the walks but start carrying a backpack with a few bottles of water.
