A Dream Come True

Seventeen year old Kyle Twomey got to meet his idol, pop princess Ellie Goulding before she performed at her sell-out Live at the Marquee show in Cork on Wednesday night (24th June). Kyle, who has just completed treatment for cancer at the Mercy Hospital, is a big fan of Ellie. Knowing this, we organised the meet-up and we?re thrilled it was such a special experience for Kyle. ?She was amazing.?

Kyle and Ellie chatted so much before the show that she ended up going on stage 10 minutes late! Brave Kyle is recovering from gruelling chemotherapy after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in March ? the same week of his 17th birthday. ?We had the tickets bought for Ellie?s gig in the same month I got cancer. Knowing I was getting to her gig kind of got me through the hard stages of the chemo. I couldn?t wait to see her perform and then when I got to meet her it was extra special.?

?I just want to say thanks to everyone that made it happen for me. ?It was a night to remember and I had HEROES.?A pupil at Douglas Community School in Cork, Kyle has completed a gruelling bout of intense chemotherapy, which has eradicated most of the cancer but he is awaiting blood tests to see if it has been removed from his lungs. His devoted dad, top DJ Marq Walsh, said his son is not out of the woods yet ? but is hopeful he will make a full recovery.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!
