« All Events

1st December @ 8:00 am - 22nd December @ 5:00 pm

The Mercy Hospital Foundation Christmas Jumper Day 2023 is happening next month on Friday December 8th or any other Day in December that suits. We’re asking you to organise a Christmas Jumper Day for your team, department or office. Everyone taking part will give to your fundraising page – anyone wearing a jumper will make a donation of €5 or whatever they can afford. Instead of buying another jumper this year, why not donate the price of a new one to get your page started? For a bit of fun you could vote for who you think has the ‘Best Christmas Jumper’.

You can share your photos across social media and tag us in them for a special shout out.

To go one step further and really get in the festive spirit, why not bake some festive goodies and ask people to donate the price of a coffee? Make sure to say it to your manager in case the company will match what you or your team raises.

To create your fundraising page just use the link here and click the “Start Fundraising” button and to set up your page that you can personalise – it takes less than 2 minutes to do!!

This year our Christmas Jumper Day will be supporting our Cancer Appeal. Through our Cancer Appeal we will be able to fund projects that will improve outcomes and experiences for patients and their families on their cancer journeys.

How? There are many ways to treat cancer. Thankfully, there are many ways to give someone with cancer the best possible quality of care because you are helping us. We see every day the impact of your support. Our Cancer Appeal aims to transform the outcomes for cancer patients all over Munster so that we can invest in:

  • A Cancer Care Centre so that people who have been diagnosed with cancer can begin their journey in the most positive way
  • Cutting edge equipment which is helping doctors to better diagnose and treat some of the most common cancers in Ireland
  • Psycho-Oncology service for patients who need specialist psychological support

As Professor Derek Power puts it;

The work I do is only half of it. Having the right facilities, access to research, being supported by complimentary services all play a part in our patient care. It’s a team effort, and I [would] really appreciate you being part of that team.

Cancer affects so many people, directly or through friends and family. Thanks to you, and supporters like you, The Mercy Hospital will be at the forefront of diagnoses, treatment and patient care for the people of Munster.
