We The Mercy University Hospital Foundation endorse the following “Donor Charter”
To ensure that philanthropy towards The Mercy University Hospital gains the respect and trust of the general public and so that donors and prospective donors to The Mercy University Hospital can have full confidence in the work of The Foundation and The Hospital, we declare that all donors have these rights:
- To be informed of the Hospital’s mission, how it intends to use donated resources, and its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purpose.
- To be informed of the identity of those serving on the governing boards of The Hospital and The Foundation and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgement in its stewardship responsibilities.
- To receive, when requested a copy of The Mercy University Hospital Foundations Code of Ethics’
- To have access to The Mercy University Hospital Foundations annual financial statements (through The Mercy University Hospital Foundation’s Annual Report), including The Mercy University Hospital’s registered charity number.
- We will ensure that funds raised in response to an appeal or from general donations will be used effectively to meet the critical needs of those areas of care in the Mercy University Hospital it was raised for or donated to. If it is not possible to expend all funds received as a result of a particular appeal, within a reasonable period or due to the changing needs of the Hospital, we may redeploy the extra funds to another area of the Mercy University Hospital. When this occurs, we will detail it in our annual report.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
- To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
- To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organisations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
- To be informed when requested whether those seeking donations from them are volunteers or employees of the organisation.
- To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists held by The Mercy University Hospital Foundation.
- To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt and truthful answers.
