A Science Graduate of NUIG, I hold an MBA from NUIG and a Diploma in Corporate Governance from the Institute of Directors (London), I am also a Chartered Director.
I spent 35 years in Management in the Pharmaceutical industry in Ireland and Norway with Baxter Healthcare, Schering Plough, Nycomed Ireland, Nycomed Imaging AS, Amersham Health and laterally General Electric Healthcare (GEHC). The latter four companies being one and the same entity with differing ownerships. For the last 19 years of my career I was Managing Director.
My wife Palma and I have 3 adult children, spread across the globe as is normal these days. When not working I enjoy a round of golf or go sea swimming. I also breed and produce a few sport horses for showjumping as a hobby which keeps me fit and active.
I see the my role in the Mercy University Hospital Foundation as a way to give something back after a long and successful career. Cancer is all too prevalent in our world and if I can do anything to help alleviate the suffering of patients then I will be tremendously proud.
