They saved my life…

John Walsh suffered a heart attack and was treated in the Mercy Hospital. Following his recovery, John wanted to raise funds for the Hospital, as a way of saying thanks. Amazingly, John completed the Cork City Marathon with friends and family joining him for the relay. He was joined by Richard Walsh, John Walsh, Richard Canice, and Nathan Walsh. A big thank you to Cork Taxi Co-Op for sponsoring him. He raised ?1,158 from the race.

Here’s John presenting the cheque to Deirdre Finn (Mercy Hospital Foundation) with Sarah Keane, from the Medical Assessment Unit who was on call in A&E the day John was rushed in.
?As a patient at The Mercy I experienced first-hand the brilliant care that the Hospital is renowned for. Following my recovery I wanted to do something to say thanks ? after all they saved my life! I decided to run in the Cork City Marathon to raise funds for the Hospital. It was a really special experience as three of my sons and a bunch of friends got involved too. It was their way of showing me their support. After everything I?ve been through and after all The Mercy did for me I got busy living a second chance of life.? John Walsh
